Chess is everything art, science and sport for our young people at Cambian Potterspury Lodge

29.03.2017

Cambian Potterspury Lodge School is one of our residential school’s for young people who have a diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome, challenging behaviour and complex needs.

The school is recognised by Ofsted with a rating of ‘good’ and is situated in the scenic Northamptonshire countryside enabling there to be a variety of outdoor activities including hill walking and mountain biking on offer.

The school recently held its sixth annual chess tournament last week and once again, interest and participation were exemplary!  They had up to twenty boys during most of the day playing around a hundred games.

The trophy was fiercely contested, with six points separating the winning house from the third place.  The individual unofficial ‘title’ was shared by John*, who has won four previous titles and newcomer James*.

The future for chess at Cambian Potterspury Lodge looks rosy, with ten out of the top twelve boys being from Key Stage two and three and with three staff playing (and often losing!) to our boys during the day!

Well done boys!
