Our recent whole-school trip to Elberry Cove, Devon, offered powerful educational and therapeutic benefits for our pupils.
By combining hands-on environmental action with creative expression, pupils developed a deep sense of stewardship. They actively cleaned the coastline, transforming collected litter into a vibrant recycling collage while studying coastal ecology and pressing environmental issues.
Students also stepped back in time, examining the remains of Lord Churston’s 19th-century bathing house to learn about local history and the Georgian and Victorian fashion for sea swimming.
Finally, a spirited house competition featuring hand-painted beach pebbles and a stone-stacking challenge fostered teamwork, resilience, and emotional regulation in an inspiring outdoor setting.
