Graffiti artist pays visit to Cambian Southlands School!

05.11.2020

Earlier this year students at Cambian Southlands School were asked how to best transform a 'walk-through' area of the school which served as a short-cut to the Astroturf and as shelter from the rain.

As there is an adjacent classroom that houses a collection of different reptiles, the students opted for a rainforest theme and the school got to work finding an artist who could take on the project.

A local street artist who graduated from the University of Bournemouth and had previous experience working with local authorities was commissioned.

Many of the young people who had been staying on site during the summer months really enjoyed watching and discussing the artist's work, and how they created such stunning images from aerosol spray paints.

The work turned out brilliantly and the students are very happy with their new, bright and colourful rain shelter.

The school will be adding forest sound effects and running water to enhance the added feature, and are planning future projects with the artist, including some teaching of abstract painting and modelling techniques.

Have a look at the amazing art work!
