Our young people from Cambian Somerset recently received a very exciting invitation to attend the Alternative Education Centre (AEC) in Somerset.

The AEC is an outdoor education provision where they offer employability skills and vocational qualifications for young people who have not been engaged in education, employment or training for some time.  Students can study vocations and skills such as motor mechanics, carpentry, general building skills amongst a range of other exciting activities.

A small group of dedicated professionals with a wide range of knowledge and experience run the centre.

Cambian Somerset School have been working in partnership with the AEC team for approximately a year and have jointly been delivering industry-recognised qualifications in mechanics.

We are very fortunate that two of our young people (Tom and Anthony)* from Cambian Somerset School have had the opportunity to complete practical assignments at AEC whilst completing their theory work in school, showing true dedication to the course.

Our young people are in the process of completing a Level 1 Certificate in Transport Management (Institute of the Motor Industry).  Tom and Anthony have been working very hard on the course and with the teachers working in unison across the board helping both our young people; they have overcome any barriers they faced.

Tom and Anthony have recently completed their first online exam for the course and both of them exceeded expectations and passed with flying colours.

Congratulations to you both!
