In July, students visited a pottery studio in Southbourne, where they had the opportunity to work with ceramic artist Sarah Bounds.
Sarah introduced the students to two exciting techniques - throwing pots on the wheel and hand-building animals using the pinch pot method. The students responded brilliantly to Sarah’s clear instruction and embraced the challenge with enthusiasm.

They produced a wonderful range of thrown pots, each one showing creativity and care through beautifully considered designs.

The animal sculptures were equally impressive, with every piece full of individual character. We saw whales, hedgehogs, owls and even a unicorn pig! We are now looking forward to collecting the finished pieces so that students can take them home soon.
