At Whinfell, we are delighted to share that one of our members of staff – Tammy Hawkins, Team Leader of Kendal Green, has been recognised in the Pearson National Teaching Awards 2023.
Principal Paddy Sandham commented: "Tammy creates amazing learning opportunities for our young people at Kendal Green by creating bespoke plans for their independent living skills. These plans are imaginative, creative and engaging leading to fabulous results in which our young people can leave and live as independently as possible."
Below you can see Tammy's certificate, and a letter from the President, children’s author Sir Michael Morpurgo who said “You open doors, shine a light. You spend your working life passing on to children all that you know and love. If I had a trumpet to blow or bells to ring, then that would be wonderful. But I have only this pen and these words to celebrate your achievements, to express my admiration. So, bravo you, bravo!”
We gave Tammy her certificate in an awards ceremony on 22nd June.
