Claire King

My role: I support students with learning skills to self-regulate, which in turn enables them to participate in Activities of Daily Living, of self-care/ Productivity (Attending education or work) and leisure. I work with students to develop- co-ordination/ Postural stability/ strength and stamina.

 

My ultimate aim is for students to be as independent as they can be. I offer 1:1 and group sessions, some of the group sessions are run with the Integrated Therapy Assistant.

 

My interests: Football- I support Arsenal, Paddle boarding and Clubbercise

My personality:  Fun, Kind, friendly

Speech and Language Therapist

Sheena Gale-Sowamber

My role: I support students with improving their communication so that they have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Communication support covers a wide area and includes social communication, language skills and speech sounds. I offer 1:1 sessions where students complete an assessment and discuss what they would like to work on in sessions with me. Some students are offered group sessions that are run by me and the Integrated Therapy Assistant. This is a great opportunity for students to practise their social communication skills in a safe, nurturing environment.

 

My interests: Films, travelling and ice hockey.

My personality: Kind, friendly and hard working.

 

What does wellbeing/kindness mean to me?  Kindness is being considerate and caring towards someone else, and helping others without expecting anything in return. Being kind can be as small as offering them a compliment or saying hello! Being kind can help someone to feel better and support them with their mental health and well-being.

My role: I am currently studying to become a qualified Occupational Therapist, I split my time between university and the Wing.At CWCI assist the Occupational Therapist and the Speech and Language Therapist. We work together to help each young person learn, grow, and feel safe. I support students by working one-on-one or in groups, as well as keeping track of how they are doing. When students start at CWC I meet with
them so can we can assess what support we will provide. My role is all about helping students reach their goals in a positive way!

 

My interests: Art, Cooking, Anime, Plants, Reading and Animals

My personality: Friendly, Gentle, Approachable and Kind

 

What does wellbeing/kindness mean to me?  Kindness to me is the simple yet powerful act of showing empathy and compassion to others, creating connections that uplift both the giver and receiver. Wellbeing means nurturing our minds, body, and spirit in a balanced way, so we can live fully, stay resilient, and spread positivity in the world around us.

My role: I am a Clinical Psychologist and work at Wing one day a week. My role is to think about how we support the emotional wellbeing of students through staff training, consultation and working directly with students. I also supervise the Assistant Psychologist.

 

My interests: Reading, walking my dog, travel, just learning about my garden

My personality: Curious, fun, kind and respectful

 

What does wellbeing/kindness mean to me: wellbeing to me means being comfortable in yourself, being compassionate towards yourself and allowing space for your thoughts and feelings while still being able to move towards the things that are important to you in life. Kindness is showing compassion to others in a non-judgmental way.

My role: I work alongside the Clinical Psychologist to help students with their mental health and navigate their thoughts and feelings. My role includes assessing students when they first join CWC to understand their level of need and what support they might require. I support students by working with them one-to-one and in group sessions, as well as checking in with them regularly.

 

My interests: Football, cooking, travelling

My personality: Bubbly, fun, caring, and approachable

 

What does wellbeing/kindness mean to me? Wellbeing to me means feeling balanced and healthy in both mind and body so that we are able to thrive, spread positivity and happiness, and enjoy life. Kindness means treating myself and others with compassion and respect, and spreading happy energy to make people smile.

My role: I am an Art Therapist and I work at the wing once a week. I offer 1:1 sessions to support students who may experience low self-esteem, difficulties expressing their feelings, or challenges with verbal communication.

Using art as a non-verbal and creative form of expression, I provide a safe and supportive space where students can explore personal experiences, process emotions and gently work through unhelpful or distorted thought patterns. My work aims to support and help students recognise their abilities, build confidence and develop a more positive sense of self.

 

My interests: Photography, yoga, reading, live music, plants and  films

My personality:  Gentle, encouraging, calm and approachable

My role: I am a Speech and Language Therapist working within the Wellbeing team here at TWC. We work together as a team to help each young person to feel safe, supported and to reach their potential. I support students by working one-on-one or in groups, I can also offer support and training for the classroom and residential settings. I am passionate supporting people to be seen, heard and understood.

 

My interests: health and wellbeing, interior design, animals and outdoor adventures!

 

My personality: Chatty but also a good listener, friendly and positive.

 

What does wellbeing/kindness mean to me?  for me, wellbeing is learning how to grow as a person and achieve our full potential, through learning and practising activities that make our minds, bodies and the world around us better. To be kind, similarly, is a choice, to better learn and understand the thoughts and feelings of others and showing them respect, offering support and care, without expecting anything in return.

My role: I am an Occupational Therapy Assistant working within the Wellbeing team here at TWC on placement from Southlands School. My role involves alongside the Occupational Therapist and ITA to deliver both group and one-to-one sessions. My role involves working closely with young people to help them develop skills, build confidence and feel safe and successful in their environment. Overall, I help young people to achieve their individual goals in meaningful and practical ways.

 

My interests: Paddleboarding, reading, baking/cooking, plants/gardening and dogs

 

My personality: Warm, welcoming, bubbly, kind and approachable.

 

What does wellbeing/kindness mean to me?  For me kindness and wellbeing are interconnected and is about having compassion for yourself and for others to boost mental and physical wellbeing. Looking after our wellbeing through different ways allows us to look after our minds, bodies and interact with the environment and others around us.

My role: I am a Counsellor and work within the Wellbeing and Clinical team. My role is to support the emotional wellbeing of students through one-to-one and group counselling, working closely with the Clinical team to assess needs and plan appropriate support. I also work with staff and parents/guardians, provide guidance and training, and help ensure students feel safe, supported, and able to manage challenges and achieve their personal goals.

 

My interests: photography, travelling, arts and museums, films and spending time with Flopsy my bunny.

 

My personality: Positive, curious, approachable and respectful

 

What does wellbeing/kindness mean to me?  For me, wellbeing and kindness mean creating a safe, compassionate space where people feel heard and valued. I offer counselling to support young people and adults through challenges. I value community, connection, and inclusivity, helping individuals build self-awareness, resilience, and trust, while feeling supported both personally and within the wider community.
