Daniel Finch

Dan has a wealth of experience having worked in Health and Social care for 12 years. His previous roles have been centred around care and education in both secondary education and residential care supporting young people with autism and other complex difficulties. Dan has accomplished his Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management where he also achieved a Distinction grade.

 

Dan has a passion for delivering the highest quality of care and for that to be as person centred as possible by supporting the young people to achieve their goals and be an active part of the community.

 

As the Designated Safeguarding Lead, Dan wants to ensure that everyone at Shap Road & Ivy Cottage are provided with every opportunity to achieve their personal best, whilst being as happy and safe as possible. This does not just stop at the adults residing here but also to the staffing team that he manages to the outstanding level that Shap Road is recognised as being.

Damien

Deputy Manager

Damien Sarsfield

Damien joined the Cambian Group in 2019 and has worked within the care sector since 2007.  Damien is now the Deputy Manager and prior to this role has worked as a Residential Support Worker and Team Leader which shows how keen he is to progress and further enhance his knowledge and responsibilities. Damien is also one of the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads at Shap Road and has accomplished his Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.

 

Damien is the operations trainer for CPI safety intervention training within this region for Cambian. He is also fully qualified through St John’s Ambulance as our Designated First Aid Responder. Damien has a vast experience of working with people who have severe learning disabilities, Autism, ADHD and other complex needs.

 

In his spare time, Damien enjoys spending time on his motorcycle (of which he has 2) and walking his 3 Labrador dogs over the fells within the lake district.

Roland Benczelits

Deputy Manager

Roland Benczelits

Roland has worked for the Cambian Group since 2022 when he joined Shap Road as a Team Leader. Roland has over 16 years’ experience of working within this sector and has a vast knowledge around non-verbal and sensory needs. He has worked and specialised with challenging behaviour, non-verbal and severe sensory needs since 2008, where he also gained a Level 3 qualification as well as his Care Certificate. Roland is one of the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads and is qualified to DSL Level 3. He has recently completed his Level 4 Diploma in Leader of Adult Care services.

 

In his spare time and when not at work, Roland enjoys exploring new roads and new places whilst out riding on his motorcycle.

Paul Davies

Team Leader

Paul Davies

Paul has been with the Cambian Group since 2021 when he joined Shap Road as a Team Leader. Paul is also one of the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads and is qualified to DSL Level 3. He has previously worked within the care industry since 2009, building up a wealth of knowledge and experience working with Children/ Young Adults with complex needs, including EBD, ASD and SEND. Paul is the Care Certificate assessor for new staff starting at Shap Road, this is something he really enjoys doing.

 

Away from work Paul has just become a Grandfather which is keeping him busy, he enjoys watching football and he actively participates in Fly fishing, clay pigeon shooting and training and working Labrador Gundogs.

Denise Saunders

Team Leader

Denise Saunders

After working in Opticians for over 20 years, as a manager, trainer, and Dispensing Optician, Denise decided during covid that she wanted a new challenge. She has worked in the care sector now for 5 years, having gained her Care Certificate and Level 3 in Adult Care. Denise is also one of our CPI qualified instructors. In her spare time, she enjoys hill walking, cooking, gardening, all sorts of arts and crafts, running workshops in her village, but most of all spending time with her family and her 2 dogs.

Richard Mcguinness

Team Leader

Richard McGuinness

Richard has worked in care since 2019, initially working with Children and young people with complex needs, including EBD, ASD and SEND, verbal and non-verbal and varying physical disabilities. He has worked within an outreach provision, using outdoor activities as a therapeutic approach to help young people who have suffered adverse childhood experiences. Richard moved on from this role to Join the team at Shap Road in August 2025 as a team leader.

 

He has gained his Level 3 qualification in residential child care and family’s practitioner, as well as being a qualified Outdoor First Aider and Mountain Leader.

 

Richard is passionate about providing person centred care and ensuring all service users get the best care and are given opportunities to have new experiences.

 

His spare time is spent being active outdoors, climbing, cycling, caving, paragliding and more often than not, walking his dogs.

Emma Kemp

Team Leader

Emma Kemp

Emma joined Cambian shortly after relocating to the UK from South Africa, beginning her journey as a Residential Support Worker at Cambian Shap Road.

 

Over the past two years, Emma has demonstrated dedication, compassion, and a strong commitment to person-centred care, which has led to her recent promotion to Team Leader. She is also currently completing her Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care, further enhancing her knowledge and professional development within the sector.

 

Emma now works across both Cambian Shap Road and Cambian Ivy Cottage, where she plays an active role in supporting and guiding the staff team to deliver high-quality, expert care. She is passionate about ensuring that each young person receives support tailored to their individual needs, empowering them to develop independence, confidence, and meaningful life experiences.

 

Emma takes great pride in her role and is committed to fostering a positive, nurturing environment where both staff and residents can thrive.

Governance Board

 

Regular Governance Board meetings are held at Shap Road & Ivy Cottage to ensure that the management of the home is closely scrutinised and held to account in all areas of responsibility.
