We love to speak about stories of success and the brilliant work our team do. Success can be measured in many different ways and our goal is to support the students in our care and bring out the best in them.

Below is all our lovely feedback from our young people, parents, staff, Social Workers and Home Workers:

LE’s mum couldn’t speak highly enough of the school. She said LE had really struggled in all his previous mainstream settings and she was regularly called to take him home. The change in him has been significant and the school reassured her he had settled in well. For the first time in a long time he’s happy to go to school. She said the communication with the school is great and she gets regular feedback via the Dojo app or a phone call from his teacher. She praised all the staff and spoke fondly of how welcoming the staff and pupils were when she went to see the school with Logan for a taster session. She said the head teacher was easy to speak to and answered all her questions.

The school is safe and secure and the staff provide a calm learning environment. The school offer a soft landing approach with the use of a school therapy dog. Many of the pupils have struggled in mainstream settings which has had an adverse effect on attitudes, behaviour and attendance. It is clear to see staff have worked hard to build a nurturing environment where pupils feel valued which has had a positive impact on attendance. This is reflected when speaking to the parent of LE.

The school want their young people to succeed and provide a wide range of qualifications. The school have addressed the issues raised by Ofsted and the curriculum is broad and continually developing. A new humanities appointment has expanded academic pathways, including access to GCSE History. A strong vocational offer includes Hair & Beauty, Cooking, Sport, BTECs, and Functional Skills. Resources such as the cooking room, salon, external sports facilities, and PSHE Association tools enrich learning. Learning outcomes were visible in classrooms, and pupils articulated these confidently. The school also have an alternative provision offer and buy in therapies when required.

The school have robust safeguarding mechanisms in place with comprehensive policies and no outstanding investigations. The school put low instances of issues down to PACE/Trauma informed training which have helped staff manage incidents more effectively. The school have a board of governors and detailed governors reports and minutes. Staffing is broad and experienced with systematic training systems in place. All policies read were details, well understood and applied within the school setting.

To all staff at the Cambain School

I just want to thank each member of staff that has helped change my child’s terrible relationship with school into a positive relationship with school, I want to thank you for making school a safe please for Cobey where he has built up relationships and trust with each person individually.

You are amazing!

This boy walks 25 minutes to the bus stop, gets on the bus to school + back to get his self there without batting an eyelid it just shows me how much he enjoys actually being there, although Cobey isn’t always the easiest he still shows up and as his mum it speaks volumes to me. This really is the best change Cobey could have had + I feel lucky how all of you have took Cobey in as part of a beautiful family you all are.

Thanks for a lovely first year @ the Cambian School
